great Halachic authority; he is quoted by R' Ephraim Zalman Margolies
in Sefer Zera Ephraim. Talmid of the Magid of Mezeritch, Toldos Yaakov
Yosef and R' Pinchos of Koritz. Moved to Teveria, where he met Reb
Nachman of Breslov. Traveled to Arab countries to collect money for the
poor of Eretz Yisroel.
